More Diana madness
Ohmegod, I’ve just discovered that on 1 July there’s to be a concert to mark what would have been the 46th birthday of Diana Spencer, the rich parasite and socialite who died in a car smash in Paris in 1997.
This year was going to be bad enough already with the 10th anniversary of Diana’s death coming up in August and the inquest into her death finally about to get underway1. Now we’ll also have to put up with the rich rock stars with who she surrounded herself recounting all the usual drivel about how Diana was kind to her cat. The grief market will no doubt go into overdrive again selling mawkish mugs and plates. How on earth can I avoid this nonsense this time?2
1 Quite why an inquest is needed is beyond me. If you’re so dumb as to travel in a car with a drunk driver without even wearing a seatbelt then there’s a pretty good chance of you ending up dead. Isn’t there?
2 I published this piece on my website three days after Diana’s death. My sentiments haven’t changed since although my writing ability has probably got worse.
